Resources for Pediatric Cancer Families

Register to become a possible match for those in need of transplants, or send link to family and friends to have them register
Joey Powers Leukemia Project
Offers grants up to $500 for for household expenses, medical bills for families dealing with pediatric cancer.  Limited to Central Illinois and Central Florida
Believe in Tomorrow
Covers Baltimore, Washington Area offer housing for children and their families with a life threatening illness who are currently and up to a year after treatment
bearnecessities
This organization helps with bills and also does "bear hugs", which are many make a wishes
Super Sibs
This organization helps with siblings of cancer patients.  Its a great organization that makes siblings feel special and also helps to explain things to them in many different ways.
The Blanket Fairy
This is an organization ran by one lady.  She is amazing and offers packages for children with cancer.  She also does Christmas "hope" packages.  She also is a HUGE supporter of getting awareness out to the world.
Team Julian Foundation
This group is all about raising awareness and money to CURE childhood cancer.  We love sweet Julian.  He was the first friend we met when we were at St. Jude.  What an amazing family.
Kiss the Toad Creations
Want your cancer hero to feel even more special?  Want their siblings to feel special too?  Handmade super hero capes is JUST what you need.  and this is where you can get them...or you can sponsor a child here as well.
Chemo Angels
an organization that offers cards of support while your child is going through the first 6 months of chemo or during induction for ALL patients.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
This has a wealth of information, patient boards, disease information, and some financial resources as well. You can click on resources and then on the right side of the page, they break them down by category..give yourself some time on this one, there are a TON here.
Icing Smiles
You can register to have a cake made for your sick child for a special occasion, whether it be birthday, no mo chemo party, and they even do siblings.  They use volunteers around the country to help fufill their needs and take donations
Monkey in My chair
Helps cancer patients stay connected with their classmates.  Awesome program to help educate their friends and teachers
Peaches Neet Feet
This is an organization that creates custom made shoes for children fighting cancer.  The founder is an artist that will customize the child's shoe.
A Kid Again
This organization serves families and children with long term illnesses.  They offer a range of services from sitting with your child at the hospital to offering adventures which are trips for families.  Currently, they are located in Ohio and seem to service that area.  I have asked if they support other states as well, will update when I get an answer.
Lighthouse Family Retreat
A non profit organization that offers retreats or vacations for the entire family on the East coast.  This is open to all children who are currently battling cancer.  They have certain dates open and will pair you up with other families. They pay for most of the trip, transportation is your responsibility.
B+ organization
This organization was started a family who lost their son to Leukemia.  They offer financial support to families.  You need to fill out an application and have your health care provider fill out a form as well. They will help with household bills.
Cancer Care
This organization helps any person (not just children) who has cancer with cancer related costs.  Transportation to/from treatments, child care, etc.  They won't pay household bills, but would be good for gas money and co pays for medicine.
Battling Buddies
This is an individual who sends Scentsy Buddies to children fighting cancer as a comfort for them.  This is a FaceBook page, so you must have FB to view and send info to them.
NCCS
This foundation offers valuable resources and information for families battling pediatric cancer. It also offers grant and financial assistance to those in need.
ACS
The American Cancer Society has a few resources in terms of aid and how to apply. Most of it applies to those who lost their jobs or have one income.
American Childhood Cancer Organization\
This site is AMAZING!  Not only does if offer lots of free literature to help you cope, the child cope, its national and has local chapters.  Their resources page is also the best I have seen in regards to financial help.  Instead of listing each one on this page, I urge you to go to this site and see what they have to offer.  They also list all treatment protocols, research, and a wealth of information for advocacy.
Kelly Ann Dolan Memorial Foundation
The Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund advocates for families with seriously ill, physically and cognitively challenged, or severely injured children nationwide through information and education. Financial assistance for needs not covered by insurance is provided to families whose children are living in or cared for in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware
Make a Wish Foundation
They offer "wishes" to children 3 or older.  They are a wonderful organization that offers some normalcy while a child is going through treatment.
Ronald McDonald House
They offer lodging for families dealing with long hospital stays.  You can find a local chapter to see the cost and what they have to offer.
St. Jude
St. Jude offers free medical care to any child.  A family is never asked to pay.  You must be referred by your doctor and accepted.  This site has wonderful information about awareness, advocacy, trends in pediatric cancer, and treatment protocols.
Joy Jars
a non profit organization that was originally started by a little girl named Jessie, who had brain cancer.  Jessie started NEGU (never give up).  She also had a dream about sending out hope to children battling cancer.  Jessie was a fan of Lucy, and we were saddened by her death.  Her dad has taken over in Jessie's name to fulfill her dream.
Cards for Kids
Emersyn started cards for kids and her goal is send out smiles and happiness to those fighting this horrible disease.  We have gotten a stocking from her and also she sent Lucy wonderful things at Valentines day. Which was great because Lucy was not in school so she still got valentines in spite of her treatment.
University of Table Rock Lake Foundation
A foundation that provides mini vacations in the Branson area to families who have a child with cancer living in the midwest.
